Silicia has taken in several new companies in the incubator lately. The incubator has expanded its area and thus accommodates more businesses. It's good that there are individuals who start a new business to add value to society and create new jobs.
The new companies are:
They develop a new type of rollerskis that provides a more real-world ski experience. The rollerskis have a unique V-track, which gives the feeling of walking in the ski slope on the asphalt.
They develop and install display systems for automated buildings. Their goal is to provide automated operators with an intuitive, unified user interface for all their installations through one login, via any device. This to reduce energy consumption, increase comfort, simplify operation and enable settings.
They will apply different techniques, systems and methods to work with health improvement towards children and young people in the community. The health improvement will focus on children's physical activity level, diet and health. The children's mastering level and motivation are the main principles that this business follows.
They are a digital consultancy and marketing agency with expertise in inbound marketing, digital distribution, conversion optimization and video. They deliever tailor-made solutions, as well as implement and automate marketing.
They offer electromechanical product development services. The services offered can be: - Technical advice related to processes from idea to product, as well as within qualification / certification. - System engineering including technology search and preparation of function and requirements specifications. - Mechanical construction including 3D cad. - Circuit board outlay. - Software development. - Development of test systems.
So far in 2018, 44 companies have been in Silicia's incubator. It is a slight growth from 2017. Based on the market economy, like less unemployment, it is great to see that it is people that are committed to start new businesses. We need more jobs for years to come, and we depend on startup businesses with ambitions and potential for growth.

The new Board in Electronic Coast is elected. Electronic elections were held for the EC Board this summer, the election had a duration of three weeks, several reminders were given and the election participation was 40% of the member companies.
Unanimously, the new EC Board is from August 1st, 2018 as follows:

Election of the chairman were also conducted. Sitting Chairman Thomas Ramm has been re-elected, also this unanimous.
Avtroppende styremedlemmer Stein Ivar Hansen, Sensocure og Grunde Joheim, Kongsberg Norspace takkes for flott innsats for Electronic Coast gjennom mange år. De hadde valgt å ikke ta gjenvalg til denne runden.

The business premises where Verify the Solution was located, Langmyra 11b, Skoppum, is for rent. Verify has re-located to the Research Park at Bakkenteigen. There are thus available new rooms, with a large open space that can be used eg for technical lab, as well as cellular offices and an office landscape.
The premises is located on the 2nd floor with a representative entrance and elevator.
The premises is two-piece and consists of a large technolab / open room approx. 300 m2 where one end can be separated by a folding wall, used for presentations, meetings etc., two large offices, meeting rooms, archives / warehouses, as well as a shared canteen / dining room, toilets and wardrobe with shower.

The Horten based company TECHNI, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in R & D and innovation, received yesterday 13th of June. European Water Innovation Award 2018 in Brussels. The company has developed a robot-based drilling and coupling system that eliminates the need to use excavators for new start-up or replacement for old worn out pipes. The solution reduces costs by up to 40 percent and significantly reduces environmental footprint. "We are proud and humble to help reduce noise and traffic congestion in residential areas, while at the same time important infrastructure can be renewed much cheaper. The rate of upgrading of people's water pipes can now be significantly increased and will also lead to health gains, "says CEO Dag Almar Hansen on behalf of the project. "The team behind this is initially established by the Water and Drainage Division in Oslo Municipality, and it is the one who will be honored to have seen the possibilities and dare to use this technology based on a concept we in TECHNI started to develop in oil industry. With support in the state's new system for Innovative Public Procurement and Partner Hawle Water Technology, the concept has been tested and has proven to be high in urban areas as well. TECHNI is now seeking to develop the system adapted to the needs of the oil industry again and hopes to get a product and service established within a few years. At the same time, work is underway to develop similar solutions for use in waste disposal, fiber placement, infrastructure digitization and maintenance robots in adjacent sectors.
"It is very special to receive this award in Brussels, one of the cities with street bridges in many parts of the city's historic district. Grand Place or Grote Markt is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site. One might imagine the whole Grand Place dug up and full of excavators and open dikes. It is also to take care of the historical areas that this technology now exists, "says Hansen on behalf of the entire TECHNI. "Now we are SHOOTED and will celebrate this with cake."

Den 7.-10. august 2018 arrangeres den 12. utgaven av INASCON på NTNU i Trondheim. I år vil INASCON bli ekstra stjernespekket med nobelprisvinner i kjemi Kurt Wüthrich som en av foredragsholderne. Wüthrich er professor i biofysikk på ETH i Zürich og ble tildelt nobelprisen i 2002 for sitt bidrag til utviklingen av kjernemagnetisk resonansspektroskopi (NMR). Det vil bli annonsert flere kjente foredragsholdere på nettsida www.inascon.org utover våren.
Som deltakende bedrift på INASCON vil det være mulig å presentere sine forskningsprosjekter og sin teknologi for et internasjonalt publikum med høy faglig kompetanse. Representanter fra bedriftene får være med på alle foredrag og vitenskapelige arrangementer som tilbys. Mellom arrangementene vil det i tillegg være mulig å stå på stand i vrimleområdet dersom man inngår en sponsoravtale. Det er selvfølgelig også mulig å delta på konferansen uten å presentere noe. INASCON er et ypperlig sted for å lære mer om det som skjer i nanoteknologiens verden.
